Highlight: Seeing my husband for the first time in two months. (Honorable mention: a very peaceful Amtrak ride from Truckee to Reno.)
Biggest challenge: Getting a hitch from Donner Pass to Truckee. I didn’t wait long before ordering a Lyft. The prospect of an all-you-can-eat-buffet negated any patience I might have had.
