Start: Scott Mountain Campground
End: tentsite at mile 1581
Miles covered: 21
PCT mile marker: 1581/2652
Highlight: Seeing so many badass trail crews from the Eastern Sierra Conservation Corps. (Honorable mention: Cold lemonade courtesy of Mike from Ashland. He hiked up from his cabin and passed out refreshments to hikers, just because.)
Biggest challenge: It was a rough day, mostly because of my foot. It didn’t hurt too bad, but I was increasingly concerned that it was plantar fasciitis, which I know takes weeks to heal. That affected me mentally, further hampering my ability to cover the miles to Seiad Valley on my existing food supply. I considered an earlier town visit, and Windy certainly wasn’t opposed to the idea of getting more food.
Are you stretching your foot out at night and in the morning? When I had it, I found that flexing the foot a few times before falling asleep and getting up helped a good deal.
Absolutely. It’s taking a while to go away, but it’s not getting worse, so I’m optimistic. Plus I have a few rest days for a family event, which should help.
You want me to bring the lacrosse ball to roll?
Nah. I have a frozen bottle of water.
Take good care of that sore foot! Nothing worse than sore feet on the trail! Be careful and be safe out there! Hardcharger
