Highlight: The North Fork Ranger Station was another oasis during a hot, dry stretch. Ranger Ron was serving up ice cream, hot dogs, and sodas along with a large dose of wry humor. It was an outstanding hour of rest. (Honorable mention: another round of pizza and beer, this time from the Acton Market.)
Biggest challenge: Because of the less-than-ideal campsite and the late-night hiker noise, I didn’t sleep very well. The last mile of today’s hike felt a bit like sleepwalking.
