Start: tentsite at 2106
End: Wahtum Lake
Miles covered: 23
PCT mile marker: 2130/2652
Highlight: A gorgeous ridgeside walk with expansive views to the west. (Honorable mention: Huckleberries or blueberries, I’m not sure which. Either way, they were yummy.)
Biggest challenge: Cleaning off dew and condensation in the morning. I camped by a stream with no breeze, so my tent wasn’t going to dry off much. I just had to pack it up wet and hope I would have time in the evening to let it dry.
Look like blueberries. Huckleberries are also in season but are a deeper blue to almost black looking, and don’t have the ridge around the stem. The bushes look about the same
Thanks! I think I can tell the difference now.
I hate hiking with a wet tent! Just be glad my hiking partner, Johnny B, didn’t get to those blueberries before you did! LOL! Be careful and be safe out there – Hardcharger
There are so many blueberries and huckleberries on the trail than I can’t imagine they would ever run out. Yay for purple hands. 🙂
