As I go through the many (too many?) photos I have from the Pacific Crest Trail, I’m reminded just how incredible it was to visit Goat Rocks Wilderness in southern Washington. Even if you’re not hiking the PCT, it’s worth a short trip to experience so many stunning features.
Case in point:
I took these photos in early September. I suspect that August and September are the best months to visit this area unless you have significant snow gear and experience. Even in September, there were a few patches of snow to cross.
I used National Geographic map 823 for this section, and it was exactly what I needed. There was a PCT detour within Goat Rocks, so I also mapped that portion in my Gaia app. If you backpack more than a couple times per year, Gaia is definitely worth the money.
Spectacular photos, thanks for posting them. Hardcharger
