Day 88 – 16 mi – PCT mile 1820

LFOY1005

Start: tentsite at mile 1805

End: Klamath Falls, OR

Miles covered: 15 (+1 to Mazama Village in Crater Lake National Park)

PCT mile marker: 1820/2652

Highlight: As expected, food, coffee, and beer at Mazama Village. The cobb salad at Annie Creek Restaurant was just what a hiker needs, and the homemade desserts (yes, plural) were sinful.

Biggest challenge: Passing the Crater Lake National Park boundary sign felt like a welcome to gnats and mosquitoes. The gnats were everywhere, and the mosquitoes, although few, were particularly vicious. (Dishonorable mention: Dodging dead trees arching over the trail.)

(Side note: Email subscribers may have seen this post about a week ago. I do not advise blogging while extremely sleepy. That could be the difference between saving a draft and posting immediately.)
